We've lost Sky!

We had it until 1 hour ago. Then the clock struck midnight and we lost it, just like Cinderella lost her shoe. Which means no new episodes of Battlestar Galactica, Lost, 24 or The Simpsons.

Bollox.

That's a major suckage. How did it happen, did you let your subscription lapse?

The news is all over the place! SKY servers have a fault or something. What on earth! I just hope services resume soon cause we are suffering here!

By the way here's an interesting link which explains what happened.

@ marg: Alas, no such luck. We simply got caught up in the Virgin Media-BSkyB price wars.
Such a saga! We followed it minute by minute last night, when there was still some hope they might reach an agreement before midnight - but they didn't, and we lost Sky at 00:00 just like that :-(

Oh well -- torrents are the wave of the future (also D2Dvd but that's another thing to discuss).

I think you may be right. I can't imagine TV continuing in the traditional way for much longer. It's bad enough that they play silly games with release dates, repeats etc. but the kind of antics we're seeing now are "the cherry on the cake".

victims of ntl too? :P me too!! I think ntl (whoops i mean virgin media, sorry mr branson) wants to take BSkyB to court..

Perhaps it's a sign that we should stop watching so much TV and get out and do things - like see friends, go to the cinema, go to the gym etc?

Actually, I reckon this is all Sky's doing. They wanted out of the NTL/Virgin Media contract, so that they could entice ex-Virgin Media customers to sign up with Sky instead. Which explains the billboards that have gone up all over London in the last week or so (Don't lost Sky, Come back to Sky etc.). These billboards must be costing them so much money, way more than they would have lost if they'd renewed the Virgin Media contract on Virgin's terms. For this reason alone I'm not going to sign up to Sky. I'll make do with the terrestrial channels and go out more instead :-)
