Happy Valentine's Day

I hate to admit this, but we've exceeded the £10 budget this Valentine's Day by at least £2, as hubby went all out with a card, flowers AND chocolates! Make that £7 if you count The Notebook DVD I purchased while doing the weekly shop yesterday evening.

The flowers (placed in the vase by the hub, who's obviously never taken a flower arranging class) are a gorgeous deep red colour and my card is really sweet: on the front there's a picture of two teddy bears on a sofa - as you open it, one of the bears moves so they end up cuddling. Awwww.

The flowers and chocolates were there when I got home from the supermarket last night. I opened the box and had some while watching The Notebook. Although not a masterpiece, it was better than watching Starship Troopers, and more romantic than So You Think You Can Dance - the only offerings on TV besides Star Trek, CSI, NCIS and other such staples.

Today we got up late and exchanged cards over brunch. Then, hubby went off to the pub to watch England play against Italy in the Six Nations rugby championship. Sport is stronger than romance.

Oh that sport! :)

We watched TV all night at the olympics...
But today we went riding (not my husband) but my little A and I did at the riding school. Not so romantic day... but okay.

I hope you will have a great new week, I am glad you visites me!

Aah, it's the thought that counts, isn't it? Happy Valentine's Day to you too, Tinsie...even if it is a bit late.

Awwww. I'm proud of you both! We're saving the brownies for after dinner out tonight (Pho, I think), and the Wonder Hub is right this very minute painting our bathroom. If anything could be LESS romantic than sport, I think painting is it. However, I lovelovelove him for doing it.

I mailed him his card (from home to home--he loves to get mail) three weeks ago so that I wouldn't forget it in my bedside drawer like last year (and the year before that). All in all, I'm thrilled with how the day is turning out!

But...romance came first! Gotta give him credit for that!

Sound like a very nice V Day to me!

@ Puss-in-Boots: Thank you and you too!

@ Karen: Αt least painting is useful ;-)

Well done on remembering the card this year! Did he keep it on his bedside table for 3 weeks or did he open it as soon as it arrived?

@ Jacob: I guess you have a point. Hehe.

@ Steven: I love that shade of red too. Not so sure about The Notebook.

How lovely! I was also greeted with the Val Day trifecta - chocolates, roses and a card on my return from my weekend away. I tried to get him a card but the only store we found on our way home without diverting too much was closing and there was hardly anything for sale! So I got him a gag gift instead!

Tsk tsk tsk! No card on Valentine's Day, how could you?
