I eat, therefore I am

I'm officially on a diet. It's a long time since I've tried to lose weight, but I need to cut out sugar anyway (doctor's orders) and eat more fibre (ditto) so I figured I might as well go the full hog and get into that pair of jeans that I never got to wear because it was two sizes too small. Eeek.

Last Friday I set myself up with e-diets and got my first week's plan, which so far I've been following, well, not quite to the letter, but closely all the same. All I've done since then is eat.

I guess the problem is that I've gone for a low-sugar, high-fibre diet, and meals that contain little or no sugar come in generous portions. Spreading the calorie load evenly throughout the day (doctor's orders again) means that I'm. constantly. eating.

Take yesterday for example. In the morning I had to plough through 100 gr of wholegrain cereal (3 times the single portion amount), 1 slice of wholemeal bread with butter and honey, 1 banana and a few grapes. By the time I finished eating, it was time to start thinking about my next meal. Lunch was two cheese and tomato sandwiches and a glass of juice, then I had an afternoon snack and a massive chicken and veg stir fry for dinner. I wonder if they're banking on weight loss through overuse of the jaws.

I'd better have lost some weight by Friday. I'll be very unamused if all this eating has been for nothing.

OMG - what kind of diet is that!?! honestly, I'm not surprised your fed up with eating.. just be creative. I 'think' if you left the slice of bread, and only had one sandwich it would be more balanced? Your 'main' meals should be brekkie and lunch, perhaps try to have a smaller portion at dinner.
Good luck though, I'm sure you can do it and having seen you recently, i believe you are well on your way ;)

No, that wouldn't work, because I'd be cutting too many calories and not getting a balanced diet, calorie-wise. I'm supposed to be having 4-5 meals of (more or less) equal calorie content throughout the day, doctor's orders. I tried to argue the two/three meals a day theory with him but he wouldn't have it. Bastard.

Gosh, well, may be he's right? perhaps a handful of nuts/seeds which won't be so bulky?? I don't know what else to suggest. Well, let's put faith in medical science!!!

see you later x

I joined weightwatchers online a few weeks ago. I feel your pain. Hope you're losing more weight than I am - I seem to be losing and gaining the same damn pound every week!

Oh no I feel your pain.

I love the Kellog cereal diet, but I don't know if it work if you eat 4 bowls of coco pops

4 bowls of coco pops isn't a diet, it's a dream come true :-)

If only........

Cutting out sugar is something we should all do. I'm amazed to find that sugar as an ingredient is finding its way into all sorts of food these days and in large quantities too.

Good luck! (I'd be well advised to lose a couple of sizes as well.)

You're right about needing to cut out sugar from our diets. Shame it tastes soooo good compared to anything else.....

I wasn't unhappy with my size either, but the specialist disagreed. Bastard.
