Looks like a May day celebration.
I don't know if the scarecrow festival takes place each year. For me it was the first time I heard about it.

I love it! All the villages in Germany had Maypoles, but I haven't seen one since! Thanks, Tinsie.

Is that right? Maypoles are quite rare in England these days - it's a shame, as it's one of my favourite traditions.

Yes, it's a festival for Mayday - the kids are about to do a Maypole dance (see next post).
