This is a long shot but was this taken in Devonshire Square - London EC2??? it brings back vague memories as I used to work there about 5 years ago!!! x
@ Anonymous Sandi: Bingo! Did you know it also appears on the cover of a children's book by Charlie Fletcher?
@ Bhavesh Chhatbar: Thanks. I'm tempted to go back on a sunnier day to take a better photo. This was a bit rushed because I was in a hurry and it was a fairly dull day too. But I couldn't resist it, it begged to be photographed!
@ Ropi: I think one of the companies that are based in the area commissioned it, but I'm not sure. It's very difficult to find reliable information about it on the internet. I believe it is dedicated (or inspired by) King Edgar and his 13 knights, who formed a Cnihtengild (a guild of knights). Cnihtengild is the name of the statue.
@ ShadowFalcon: Especially when the armour has shiny blue stones on it ;-)

Great photo -- the statue seems so anachronistic.
