St George's Day celebrations

As we've been promised a sunny and warm weekend (again - yay!!) I thought I'd remind you that if you're in England and looking for outdoor activities this weekend, you could consider participating in the celebrations for St George's Day. In London there will be a series of events at Trafalgar Square, Bankside and Covent Garden, including a free screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail on a big screen in Trafalgar Square on Monday evening.

See here for details of what's on.

I didn't even know that there was this day in the UK or that it was celebrated in any way. I guess I still have a lot to learn about British holidays, although I have, sort of, understood Guy Fawkes Day.

Thanks for the information! I will definitely go! Monty Python rock! :)

I think that St. George for English people is something like St. Patrick for Irish, but I hadn't realized it was this Monday, or that they celebrate it that way.

See you at Trafalgar sq!

Shionge, you're very welcome :-)

Betty, St George's Day wasn't celebrated much (if at all) in the past, but it's catching on in recent years. Guy Fawkes is still way more popular.

Griniari, I'll be there too :-)

Erica, you're on babe. Let's get planning!

If only we could get the kind of response to St George's day that St Paddy's day gets. It's about time the English were proud of being English :)

I hear you too, Loops!

Funny enough, last weekend, there was Monty Python & the quest for the Holy Grail playing on the campus cinema. What a coincidence!
