Obamania

Two weeks ago I was looking for postcards to send to a friend who recently moved to the States. This one caught my eye, not only because it's showing Barack and Michelle Obama meeting the Queen, but most importantly because the actual photo was taken just days before it appeared as a postcard.

Wouldn't it be great if big events like this one were produced as postcards almost immediately? It'd sure make Postcrossing so much more interesting.

I just read today that collecting postcards is called deltiology, from the Greek deltos (writing tablet). Funny that my favorite Greek girl posted this!

i like the idea of making postcards out of events like this too
doenst the queen look strange here, while the obamas look quite ordinary...

@ Karen: What can I say... I had no idea there was a formal name for postcard collecting - and a Greek-inspired one at that!

@ Mandi: Ι love them too, and I have a huge collection.

@ Mediterranean Kiwi: I think the Queen looks like a little old (albeit dressed up) lady, which is hardly surprising as she's in her 80's now. The Obamas look as if they're having their picture taken for the family album or something. I wonder if they knew they were going to end up on a postcard :-)

@ Claire: Let's hope someone's listening!
