Sunday chores

My social life has improved considerably since the weather picked up - I've even managed to meet up with two friends I'd not seen since last year - which is great. However, as a result of my various outings my housekeeping has become a bit... (ahem) lax, and piles of books, magazines, shoes, clothes and dishes have been appearing all over the place and growing at an alarming rate. So I've decided enough is enough (hubby had decided some time ago, but he's wise enough not to speak up about things that are out of his control) and have spent Sunday morning trying to restore some order.

So far I have (*with help from hubby):

Washed up
Taken the rubbish and recycling out *
Finished the ironing
Changed our bedding
Done two loads of washing (more ironing to follow...)
Bought some flowers for the living room *
Prepared a chicken and potato casserole which is bubbling in the oven as we speak *

We're not even half of the way there, but at least the place now looks less like a tip and more like a home - and the flowers have added a nice splash of colour to our living room.

Not bad going for a Sunday morning, eh?

you go girl! It is all about motivation! When you get inspired to do such tackles you must go with it while the energy is there! sounds like you are doing GREAT!

Well, palmtreefanatic's comment kind of runs opposite of mine. I was just going to say that there are so many other interesting things to do in life, how can one get motivated about housework and picking up? I understand you totally!

Not bad at all. The only thing I've managed to accomplish so far, this Sunday, is putting up "for sale" signs in the windows of my car.

So... you wanna buy a car? lol

Wonderful flower - looks very exotic to a Norwegian :-)

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday and a great week ahead!

@ Palmtreefanatic: Thank you! You were my inspiration for this project :-)

@ Betty: Normally I'm totally with you, but there comes a time when clutter totally takes over your life and you've got to do what you've got to do.

@ Daniel: Haha one thing's better than nothing! Hope the car sells soon.

@ Renny: Not sure I can stretch as far as having fun, but I'll certainly enjoy the end result (when I finish ;-)

The large flowers in the bouquet are proteas. They're pretty exotic for us too, as they come from South Africa and you can only buy them in London in May-June time. Aren't they beautiful?

Yes, life philosophy is one thing, but reality is another. I do.try to keep total clutter at bay.

I know exactly how you feel. With working and trying to maintain some what regular connections with family and friends, my house always is the first thing to be neglected. I do try and take advantage of weekends for cleaning and catching up, but my good intentions usually go ignored. I like to make lists - long ones with details and bullet points and organized ideas - but when it comes to acting on those lists, I am pathetic.

Reading your post, I look around my room and wonder....
How would you like to help a friend? :-) In dire need of a good cleaning that's for sure.

Good work girl! I have a tonne of chores awaiting me when I get home. Sigh.

@ Erin: I too do lists sometimes. They never last long :-)

@ Indie: I would, but I'm no good at housework. Plus I'm sure you're much tidier than me. Really.

@ Claire: Sending positive vibes your way! Good luck xx
